Dog Friendly Places Near Dogfest South

Dogfest South returns this month and we know that a weekend away isn’t complete without finding dog friendly places to eat or stay.

Where Is Dogfest?

On September 11th-12th dog lovers will be returning to Knebworth House in Hertfordshire for Dogfest South. Now in its seventh year, the festival will give dog lovers a chance to celebrate their furry best friends in a weekend of fun.

The Main Arena of the festival will be showcasing back-to-back entertainment including jaw dropping displays from skilled dog display teams. Prepare to have your mind blown by talented animals leaping through rings of fire, hurtling down ziplines and much more.

It’s a weekend packed with experiences for both you and your pooch to enjoy. Climb over hay bales, crawl under scramble nets, zig zag around poles and dart through tunnels on the ultimate Dogstacle course. Test your dog in a game of hide and seek, ultimate frisbee, hale bale jumping or the agility course. 

How Much Are Tickets?

Megan’s At The Old Bell

This privately owned and dog loving neighbourhood restaurant is the perfect place to refuel after Dogfest South. They serve fresh Mediterranean influenced dishes to eat in or takeaway. You can be sure there’s something on the menu you love. The restaurant provides bowls, treats and even beds for four legged visitors.

The restaurant is housed in a charming old pub complete with fireplaces and a lounge area. Enjoy your meal in their main dining area or even one of the private rooms.

The Three Horseshoes- Smallford

This pub is on the Hatfield Road and is the ideal location to relax in a traditional pub after a busy day at Dogfest South. The large pub has exposed beams and wooden flooring for a rustic aesthetic and an ample car park. 

The menu is full of country pub classics and hearty favourites that can be enjoyed eaten in or to take away. The well-stocked bar has fine wines, cask ale and even artisanal gins. Enjoy the beverage of your choice by a crackling log fire with your furry best friend next to you.

The Mixer

The Mixer is an independent vintage cocktail lounge and restaurant. They specialise in experimental cocktails to enjoy alongside your delicious meal. However, they also have a great draught selection with over 15 types of craft beer and lager.

The garden area has its own olive tree, a natural centerpiece to enjoy conversation, food and cocktails around. Best of all, dogs are welcome!

Granello Lounge

The Lounges are always welcoming to our furry friends, and this place is no exception. Here you can find fresh water on arrival and a couple of treats on the bar. They serve a great range of food and drinks for humans (including a children’s menu, gluten free and vegan menus). The Lounges are warm, friendly and laid-back, a great place to relax and watch the world go by with your pooch by your side.

Dog Friendly Thing To Do near Dogfest South

Hitchin Lavender

Have an extra day kicking about? Or want to explore the local area more? Just 22 minutes away you’ll find the dog friendly flower field of Hitchin Lavender. Dog Friendly Hotels near Dogfest South

Novotel Stevenage

Located just off junction 7 of the A1M in the grounds of Knebworth House this hotel is the perfect location for those visiting Dogfest South. Unwind and enjoy food in the Bookcase Restaurant and Lounge which serves food all day until 10 pm. This means you’ll have plenty of time to get a feed in after a busy day having fun with your furry best friends.

Novotel allows pets of any size for a refundable deposit of £20 per night.

Days Inn Stevenage North

Days Inn is a mere 15 minute drive away from Knebworth House making it ideally situated for Dogfest South attendees. Each comfortable guest room is equipped with flat screen tv, freeview, hairdryer and hot drinks tray. There is also free WiFi in every room. The downstairs area of the hotel has a licensed bar and lounge as well as a 24-hour reception.

Days Inn allows dogs of any size to stay at the hotel for just £5 per pet.

Ibis Stevenage Centre

This Ibis hotel is less than a ten minute drive from Knebsworth House. All rooms are fully air conditioned en suites. They have WiFi, digital TVs and exceptionally comfy beds. The reception is open 24 hours and the hotel also has its own restaurant. Located in the town centre, there is a shopping centre next door and a leisure centre with a cinema, bowling alley, nightclub and restaurants five minutes away.

Ibis Stevenage Centre allows dogs of any size to stay for a fee of £10 per pet, per night.
