New Dog Friendly Treehouses Open in the Cotswolds

If a private sauna, countryside views and 220 acres of Cotswolds landscape sound like your kind of escape, there’s a new dog friendly stay to add to your wish list.

Calcot Manor & Spa has opened a small collection of luxury two-bedroom Treehouses, set within it’s estate in the Cotswolds. Most importantly for us, dogs are welcome to stay too, with no additional dog charge.

The Treehouses opened earlier this summer and sit just beyond the main hotel, overlooking fields and surrounded by woodland and wildflowers.

Inside Calcot Manor’s New Treehouses

Designed and built by specialist treehouse company Blue Forest, the Treehouses have been created to sit sympathetically within the surrounding landscape, with sustainability considered throughout the design and build. Despite the name, these aren’t your childhood garden treehouse.

Each one has a calming master bedroom alongside a cosy loft-style twin room, making them suitable for couples, friends or families looking for something a little different in the Cotswolds. There’s also a living area opening onto a private deck, complete with outdoor seating and your own private sauna.

The interiors, designed by Cathy Birtles, take inspiration from the Cotswolds landscape, combining natural textures, warm lighting and handcrafted details. Guests will also find binoculars for a spot of birdwatching, rewilding maps and a pantry stocked with local produce.

A dog friendly stay in The Cotswolds

We checked directly with the team at Calcot Manor, who confirmed that dogs can join you in the new Treehouses. Even better, there’s currently no additional charge for bringing your dog.

The number of dogs permitted isn’t fixed and will depend on factors such as their size, so you’ll need to discuss this with the reservations team when booking. You should also make the team aware that you’re bringing a dog when reserving a Treehouse. There are also limited dog friendly rooms throughout the hotel so guests will need to request this upon booking.

Dogs must be kept on a lead around the estate.

It’s also worth knowing that dogs aren’t permitted in the main house public rooms or the hotel’s primary restaurants, so this isn’t somewhere where your dog can necessarily follow you everywhere during your stay.

However, Calcot does provide some lovely extras for four-legged guests, including:

  • A comfy dog bed
  • Water bowl
  • Treats
  • A gourmet dog menu

With 220 acres surrounding you, the setting itself is likely to be one of the biggest draws for dog owners looking for a countryside escape. If you stay in the hotel, as opposed to the treehouses, the designated dog-friendly rooms are located on the ground floor, offering easy outdoor access to private terraces or courtyard spaces.

More than just a treehouse

Guests staying in the Treehouses also have access to the wider facilities at Calcot Manor, including complimentary bike hire, its award-winning spa and holistic health and fitness facilities.

It makes the Treehouses an interesting addition to the growing number of more unusual dog friendly places to stay in the UK, particularly if you’re looking for somewhere that combines a countryside escape with the facilities of a luxury hotel.

How much do the Calcot Manor treehouses cost?

The new dog friendly Treehouses at Calcot Manor are available to book now, with prices starting from £1,180.

If staying in a luxury Treehouse surrounded by the Cotswolds countryside with your dog sounds appealing, this might be one to add to the bucket list.
