Full List Of Dog Friendly Wilko Stores

Is Your Local Wilko Dog Friendly? 🤔

Update: The beloved retailer Wilko collapsed into administration in August and closed its final stores in early October. However, in a turn of events, Wilko is set to make a dramatic return to the high street by Christmas, as announced by its new brand owner. While we await Wilko’s return, why not explore more dog friendly shopping options

Following a successful pilot at two locations, Wilko is now welcoming dogs inside 248 stores across the UK. That’s right, you can enjoy dog friendly shopping together while picking out some great products.

Your pooch will love snooping out all of the goodies in the pet isle, including dog food, doggy treats, toys and bedding! The retailer stocks plenty of other things too, such as cleaning supplies, homeware items, garden supplies, DIY, stationary, kids toys and more! That’s not forgetting the famous pic ‘n’ mix station which usually has a half price deal.

Every dog friendly Wilko store has signage at the front of the window to make it clear. However, you know we like to give you the full scoop, so we’ve sourced a full list of dog friendly Wilko stores just for you. Click here for other dog friendly shops in the UK.

A Wilko spokesperson said: “Furry friends, on their leads if applicable, will be able to browse all areas of the participating stores except for food aisles.

“Most of the pet customers will be either dogs or cats, and these four-legged shoppers are likely to find many products instore that get their tails wagging.”

    • Thank you for your feedback Karen. This list was provided to us by Wilko when it was initially announced. These things are subject to change. Unfortunately we can’t be in touch with them on a continuous basis. We are a community built website however, and when someone leaves a comment notifying us that it isn’t dog friendly we will of course remove it from the list.

  1. After having checked on the website, I went to my local Wilko store with my dog, this was in Derby city centre, when I tried to enter the store I was told by the manager that dogs were not allowed in the store, I stated that I had checked on the website to confirm I would be ok with my dog, however it appears that no dogs are not allowed in there stores

I have now been refused entry in two Wilko stores in Derby ,

Please can someone confirm if dogs are allowed in or was this just a headline grabbing stunt

I am very angry about this

    Katrina & Dylan

    • Hi Katrina & Dylan,
Apologies that you have been having this problem and we understand your frustration.
Although we aim to keep this list as up-to-date as possible, allowing dogs into a Wilko store is up to the individual store manager and we would advise contacting the store beforehand to double-check if they do allow the dog in.
We have removed Derby from this list until we can verify if they are dog-friendly.
If you meantime please check our dogfuriendly.com to find an alternative option.

  2. I tried to take my two pugs into my local Wilko store- Huddersfield, I was told by the security man at the store entrance that dogs are not allowed because the store has escalators:)

  3. I think it should be either dogs can go in all wilkos or none , i would shop a lot more in wilkos if I could take my dog as I can’t leave him at home as he as separation anxiety.

    • Its a dog not a little child. You can leave it at Home you no! Dogs is designed by nature to be left alone! I am fed up of going out only for dogs to be everywhere and on long leads or no leads. I got 6 young children who dont like dogs either. But the owners allow there dogs to approach my kids and think its funny if they scream. I am thinking its some racism too. Dogs belong in the wild or to help on farms and thats it.

  4. We took our dog into Parc Trostre in Llanelli the other weekend with no problem. I’d doubled checked before hand, but the main sign on the door stated no dogs. We went in anyway, as the store info on Wilko’s website said they were dog friendly, and when we got to the pet section there were signs saying it was a dog friendly store so there seems to be a lack of/confusing signage and communication.

Indy enjoyed having a nose around and picking her own treats (up to the point she found a piece of chocolate on the floor…)

  5. Allenton will only accept dogs who are small enough to be carried – couldn’t take my pup in as he was too big. 😞
They said they realised their aisles were actually too narrow for dogs (it is a reasonably compact store).

  6. I was told by staff in the Newport (Gwent) store that I could take my dog in. I took my dog in a couple of weeks later to be told by a rude staff member that dogs are not aloud in the store. They have lost me as a customer. Other stores around town had no problem with her. They even made a fuss of her!!

    • I have just been to the Scarborough store.no dogs allowed. !!! A team member was quick to approach me and my husband. She was rude!!!.my husband left the store with are two labradors.i went to purchase my shopping.the team member was in front of me talking about me and my husband. I ask her if she was talking about me.she said no
And walked off mumbled under breath .NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICES.!!!

  7. Dogs not allowed in Chesterfield due to management decision and escalator but special needs dogs allowed ! We visited to buy dog treats . Wilkos should make their minds up . Just stipulate allowed downstairs only . But of course disability dogs must be trained to travel in escalators . ??????

  8. I take my little dog to Tottemhale Hale store all the time.
She often sits in a trolley and gets everyone’s attention
Staff and customers have all been very nice – but I think dog size would definitely matter. We used to have a large dog and I’m not so sure people would be as accepting as they tend to be frightened or nervous of large dogs.
But thank you Wilko – makes a big difference being able to shop with my dog as she suffers separation anxiety badly.

  9. I love taking my dog into my local Wilco. The staff love her too. She has separation anxiety and therefore I couldn’t shop without the store being dog friendly. Best idea ever!
