Finding a London hotel that’s stylish, spacious, dog friendly and well connected to the rest of the city isn’t always easy. Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd’s Bush manages to tick pretty much every box.
We visited with Archie shortly after the hotel reopened following a major transformation and it really did feel brand new. Everything was immaculate. The interiors were completely our style and despite being part of IHG, it didn’t have the corporate feel you might expect from a large hotel group.
Add in a huge bedroom, friendly staff, a dog-friendly restaurant and a location that makes exploring London incredibly easy and we came away seriously impressed.
Inside Hotel Indigo K West
There’s more history behind this Shepherd’s Bush hotel than you’d realise when you first walk through the doors. Before becoming Hotel Indigo, this was the K West Hotel & Spa, which closed in December 2023 ahead of a multi-million-pound transformation. Go further back and the building was once home to the BBC’s Kensington House studios, with David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley among the famous names associated with it’s recording history.
That heritage hasn’t been forgotten. The redesign takes inspiration from Shepherd’s Bush’s music and broadcasting history, with subtle references incorporated throughout rather than turning the hotel into an overtly themed space.
Everything still felt virtually brand new during our stay, which isn’t surprising considering Hotel Indigo K West only re-opened in March 2026. The interiors are warm, stylish and considered, with plenty of personality.
Our room was massive, particularly by London standards. We had a huge, incredibly comfortable bed, a Smart TV and really good soundproofing. There was plenty of room for two adults and Archie without feeling as though we were on top of each other.
There were some lovely welcome touches for us humans too. Waiting in the room was a miniature gin and vodka, Fever-Tree tonic waters, a bar of chocolate and a handwritten card – exactly the sort of small detail I always appreciate.
The Dog Owners Guide Review
Dog Friendliness – 3.5/5
Archie was made to feel incredibly welcome by the team and I have to say – everyone on reception was incredibly welcoming to him. However, we’d been told there should be some bits waiting in the room for him, but there was nothing there. As soon as we mentioned it to the team though, they quickly sorted everything. By the time we returned from dinner, Archie had a dog bed and two bowls waiting for him.
Dogs are welcome in Flock, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, although there’s a designated area where you can sit with them as they can’t be too close to the open kitchen. The restaurant team weren’t quite as enthusiastic about Archie as reception had been, but they still brought him a bowl of water and were perfectly happy for him to sit on the seat beside us, as long as I put my jacket down first.
So while there were a couple of little things that stopped us giving full marks, we never felt as though having Archie with us was an inconvenience.
Service – 4.5/5
The reception team were lovely. The service throughout our stay felt quite casual, but in a way that really suited the hotel. Everyone was friendly, approachable and genuinely lovely with Archie.
The way the team dealt with the missing dog amenities was a good example. There was no fuss – we mentioned it, they sorted it, and everything was waiting for Archie when we returned. Our handwritten welcome card was another small touch that made the stay feel more personal.
Rooms & Interiors – 5/5
This is where Hotel Indigo K West really stood out for us. The aesthetic was completely on point. Everything felt warm, stylish and considered, while the nods to the building’s musical and broadcasting history give it an identity of its own.
Our room was enormous and incredibly comfortable, but more importantly, it was a room we actually wanted to spend time in. There was plenty of space to properly settle in, even with Archie, rather than feeling like we’d simply been given somewhere to sleep between days out in London.
Everything was squeaky clean and because the hotel had only recently opened following its transformation, it genuinely felt brand new. For us, the combination of design, comfort, space and cleanliness makes this an easy 5/5.
Facilities – 4/5
At the time of our stay, this was probably the one area where we weren’t able to experience Hotel Indigo K West in its finished form. There is a gym available, but the really exciting addition is still to come…
K West Spa is due to open in late 2026 and the plans look impressive. IHG describes it as a “luxury wellness space”, with the hotel also promoting an outdoor garden area as part of the spa experience. Given how beautiful the rest of the hotel is, I have very high hopes for it.
For now, we’re sticking with 4/5 because we can only score the facilities we experienced during our stay. Once the spa is open, though, I think Hotel Indigo K West could become a really special option for a dog-friendly London break – particularly if you can combine exploring the city with a proper spa experience back at the hotel.
Food & Drinks – 4.5/5
Breakfast was lovely. There’s a buffet for the cold options, followed by freshly cooked dishes that you can order from the kitchen. More importantly (at least if you’re anything like me), you can order a proper coffee with breakfast. Not just a pot of filter coffee, but an actual cappuccino. It’s a small thing, but something I always appreciate in a hotel.
We also ate at Flock during our stay, which is the hotel’s all-day restaurant and bar. Its open-kitchen concept fits perfectly with the relaxed, design-led feel of the rest of the property, and having a restaurant where Archie could join us made the hotel much easier to use with a dog. I must admit, I wasn’t overly excited by the starters (there were only three of them), but they were really tasty. The mains were also delicious. Simple dishes, but done well.
Location – 4/5
Hotel Indigo K West is in Shepherd’s Bush, so you’re not staying right in the middle of the traditional central London tourist areas. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing – particularly with a dog.
Holland Park is nearby, giving you somewhere green to head with your dog. Shepherd’s Bush station is only a few minutes’ walk away, with both the Central line and London Overground making it incredibly easy to get around the city.
We found that balance worked really well. You’re slightly removed from the intensity of central London when you return to the hotel, but you’re close enough to the Tube that getting back into the centre is straightforward.
For a London stay with a dog, we’d happily choose the location again.
Value – 4/5
Rooms start from around £200 per night, although, as you’d expect with a London hotel, prices vary considerably depending on when you stay. For what you get, we thought Hotel Indigo K West offered really good value.
You’re getting a genuinely spacious bedroom, beautiful new interiors, a very comfortable bed, great soundproofing and the reassurance of staying with a major hotel group, without the hotel itself feeling like a generic chain.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Indigo K West. Beautiful interiors, a huge and incredibly comfortable room, genuinely friendly staff and a location that makes exploring London easy all made this one we’d happily return to.
There are a couple of small areas where the dog-friendly experience could be polished, but Archie was made to feel very welcome. And with the new K West Spa still to come, we have a feeling this hotel is only going to get better.
