Review: Our Stay Cotswold Adventure In Bumble Cottage in Witcombe

We had the pleasure of staying at Bumble Cottage, one of the many exquisite dog-friendly cottages offered by Stay Cotswold. Our experience in this charming retreat nestled in Witcombe was simply enchanting. From the very moment we set foot inside, we were instantly captivated by its inherent beauty and irresistible charm. Every detail of the cottage’s tasteful decoration had been carefully thought out, and the delightful bee-themed accents sprinkled throughout added a touch of whimsy and delight to the ambience.

Every room in Bumble Cottage exuded warmth and comfort, making it feel like a true home away from home. The attention to detail in the décor was beautiful, from the carefully chosen furnishings to the beautiful artwork on the walls that were actually illustrations of the local church, walks, and nearby castle. A real window into where we were staying. We couldn’t help but fall in love with the cosy ambience that the cottage effortlessly created.

One of the highlights of our stay was the lovely little garden, which not only provided a secure space for Loki but also served as the perfect setting for a delightful garden barbecue. We spent many a morning surrounded by the vibrant blooms and soothing sounds of nature with a cheeky coffee from the Nespresso machine.

Being just a stone’s throw away from the charming local church and surrounding fields was a delightful bonus, offering a short evening walk. In the daytime, we took the opportunity to explore the picturesque walks that surrounded Bumble Cottage, including the renowned Cotswold Way. The countryside vistas were simply breathtaking, offering us the chance to immerse ourselves in the serene beauty of the area, greeting foxes, lambs, cows, horses, and even pigs amongst the beautiful yellow fields full of buttercups. Such beautiful rich countryside.

Another noteworthy attraction within walking distance of the cottage is Sudeley Castle. While the castle itself is not dog-friendly, there are public walks around its perimeter where dogs are allowed. Although we couldn’t explore the castle gardens or grounds with Loki, there were a few photo opportunities at the gates and bridge, and we thoroughly enjoyed taking leisurely walks around the exterior. The surrounding paths were spacious and well-maintained, offering ample room for us and Loki to stretch our legs. The vast open fields that accompanied the walks provided a serene and picturesque setting, making it a perfect option for a shorter leisurely lunchtime stroll.

We were delighted to discover the local dog-friendly pub up the road called The Corner Cupboard Inn. It became our go-to spot for a refreshing beverage after our adventures.

One of the most cherished memories from our stay at Bumble Cottage was the regular evening walks we took at Cleeve Hill. The sunsets there were absolutely mesmerizing, painting the sky with a wash of colour. It quickly became a cherished haunt every evening of our stay, and we did not tire of the breathtaking views.

Our time at Bumble Cottage was nothing short of magical. The beautiful decor, secure garden for our garden barbecues, proximity to the local church, pub and scenic walks, and the awe-inspiring sunsets at Cleeve Hill all contributed to an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to return and create even more treasured memories in this charming haven.
