Wag This Way Returns For 2022!

Ready to strut your paws, and wag your tails? Wag This Way returns on Sunday 20th March in Bute Park, Cardiff.

It’s been a long couple of years cooped up indoors. So you can imagine our excitement when we were invited to support City Hospice with Wag This Way. Just like when you pick up the lead for a walk and your pooch goes bananas!

City Hospice is the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the Cardiff, providing care and compassion to 550 patients. The 5km dog walk aims to help raise money for City Hospice who provide care to people with terminal or life limiting illnesses. They also support families of patients by providing essential counselling and support services.

It is the first time the event has been able to go ahead since 2019.

Daisy Magill, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at City Hospice, said:

“After our Wag this Way 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled due to the pandemic, we’re so looking forward to finally getting everyone together again for a fun day of fundraising – owners and dogs alike!”

Dog Show & Hound Hangout

We are proud to support Wag This Way and the essential work of City Hospice.

This year, we’ll be hosting a dog show at the event. Come along and enter your pooch into a range of categories such as Handsome Hound, Gorgeous Girl and Best Ears! Each entry into a category costs £2 and winners will receive tasty treats courtesy of Burns Pet Nutrition.

There’ll also be a “Hound Hangout” area where you can meet other dog owners and even a pupfluencer or two!

Adele Pember, founder of Dog Furiendly said;

“Out of all the cities we work in across the UK, Cardiff holds a very special place in our hearts.”

“This beautiful city, filled with plenty of wagging tails, inspired us to create Dog Furiendly so that more dog owners could find places to visit and events like Wag This Way. We woofed with joy when we heard that this incredible event was back for 2022.”

Adele continued, “the event is plenty of fun for all the family to enjoy while raising funds for such an important cause. Instead of donating bucket loads of gravy bones, we’re raising real money to support the hard-working staff at City Hospice who provide essential care for those who need it the most.”

“If we can even get 14 dogs involved with the dog show, that pays for an hour of essential nursing care for someone in Cardiff with a terminal illness.”

Wag This Way- On The Day

Registration will open at 9.30 on Sunday 20th March and the walk will start at 11AM. Upon completion of the 5K walk, participants will receive a dog bandanna and a goody bag full of treats courtesy of Burns Pet Nutrition.

Rebecca Wilkinson, Sponsorship Co-ordinator at Burns Pet Nutrition, said:

“We are so excited to be a part of Wag this Way 2022. This amazing event will not only help support the vital work carried out by City Hospice, but it will also give dog owners the chance to have fun with their furmily members in the beautiful setting of Bute Park.”

Where To Get Tickets?

Tickets for the walk costs £10 per adult while children aged 3-15 may take part for £5. All children taking part must be with a registered adult. Wag This Way t-shirts can also be pre-ordered for collection on the day.
