Each summer, the Isle of Wight comes alive with wagging tails, sandy paws, and a whole lot of adventure. This dog-friendly island is bursting with things to do for both pups and their people – from scenic beach strolls to charming villages full of new sights and smells. It’s a pawfect staycation spot where your dog is not just allowed, but truly welcomed. Looking for more than just walks and pub lunches? You’re in luck. The Isle of Wight is home to plenty of dog-friendly attractions and days out.
From historic landmarks to outdoor adventures, here are some of the best dog-friendly attractions the Isle of Wight has to offer…
Robin Hill
Robin Hill has recently re-opened for 2025, with all new attractions, as well as the old favourites. For a day full of woodland walks and outdoor adventure, Robin Hill is a must-visit. While your pup may not be too fussed about the toboggan runs or falconry displays, they’ll love exploring the nature trails and soaking up the sounds and smells of nature. It’s an ideal spot for a slower-paced, sniff-filled day out and is great for families too!

Blackgang Chine
Step into a world of imagination at Blackgang Chine – the UK’s oldest theme park! While some rides and indoor attractions are for humans only, dogs on leads are welcome to explore the park alongside you. We visited in April 2025 and found it to be very dog-friendly, with dogs being allowed in most indoor areas. From pirate ships and fairy castles to life-sized dinosaurs, there’s plenty of outdoor fun and quirky sights to keep tails wagging. It’s a truly unique experience with something new around every corner – perfect for families with furry explorers in tow.

Isle of Wight Steam Railway
All aboard! Dogs are warmly welcomed aboard, provided they’re on a lead. It’s a fantastic way to experience the island’s beauty together, with plenty of sights and smells for your furry companion to enjoy. The round trip takes around an hour and goes through Smallbrook Junction, Ashey, Havenstreet and Wootton. We’d recommend starting and finishing your journey at Havenstreet, so you can also enjoy the museum and café.

Tapnell Farm
Tapnell Farm is a fantastic destination for families and dog owners alike. While dogs aren’t allowed inside the Farm Park itself, there’s still plenty for you and your pup to enjoy. From Football Golf and Archery, to the Aqua Park – dogs are welcome to watch the fun. The site is also close to some beautiful walking trails, which we’d recommend after a fun-filled morning. After your walk, stop off at The Cow Restaurant, which is super dog-friendly.

Ventnor Botanic Garden
A hidden gem on the southern coast of the Island, Ventnor Botanic Garden is a haven of exotic plants and tranquil paths… and yes, dogs are very welcome! Thanks to the area’s unique microclimate, you’ll find an incredible range of Mediterranean, subtropical and arid plants, all thriving outdoors. Dogs on leads can explore the garden’s winding paths, take in the sea views, and even stop at the garden café for a dog-friendly treat. You won’t spend too long there, so afterwards we’d recommend stopping at Crave in Ventnor High Street for an ice cream. They are the best on the Island!
