8 Reasons Why We Love Dogstival

Dogstival is our favourite event of the year. A bark-tastic celebration of everything we love about our furry friends, with a range of activities and entertainment options for the whole family to enjoy. This year the festival takes place on the 3rd and 4th June at the beautiful Broadlands Park in Romsey, Hampshire. surrounded by lush green fields and rolling hills. Here’s 8 reasons why you should wag-along with us at Dogstival this year.

1. Celebration of all things dogs

Dogstival is a celebration of everything we love about our furry friends. Whether you’re a dog owner or just a lover of the species, the range of activities you will find at this tail-wagging event have been entirely created with the dog in mind. This includes dog-themed games, competitions, things to have-a-go of and demonstrations.

2. Family-friendly atmosphere

Dogstival is a great event for families, as it offers a wide range of activities that are suitable for people of all ages. Children can participate in fun dog-themed games and activities, while adults can enjoy watching competitions and demonstrations.

3. Entertainment for both dogs and their owners

Dogstival features a wide range of entertainment options for both dogs and their owners. The festival features a variety of four-legged activities such as Barkour, which is Dogstival’s take on parkour, allowing dogs to navigate through an obstacle course of ramps, tunnels, ball pits, see-saws and more. Additionally, there are also traditional agility, hoopers and flyball where dogs can show off their speed, coordination, and training.

For the human’s there’s great live music, street performers, a vintage fun fair and more. We’ll also be there with our take on the dog friendly pub, the Muddy Paws Tavern, hosting pup quizzes, meet-ups and classic pub games. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The humans behind Dogstival are always innovating new ways to entertain both the dogs and humans every year. Last year they created a royal celebration to commemorate the Late Queen Elizabeth’s jubilee. During this theme they had a giant doggy Barkingham Palace, street parties with a doggy afternoon tea, plus huge canine throne. This year Dogstival is going groovy with a theme centered around spreading love and positivity, and we’re excite to see what barking mad entertainment they have in store.

Dogstival is also a great opportunity to meet and greet some of the most famous dogs on the internet. From Instagram-famous pups to movie star dogs, if you spot them, you’ll have the chance to meet and take pictures with some of the most beloved dogs on the planet.

4. Learn Something New

Dogstival offers a wealth of educational opportunities for both dog owners and those who are interested in learning more about their dog, or even about different dog breeds. Experts are on hand to answer questions and provide a variety of information.

5. Shopping for your pup

Dogstival features a wide range of vendors selling everything from dog-themed clothing and accessories to dog food and toys. You’ll be able to find everything you need to keep your furry friend happy and healthy.

6. Surrounded By Natural Beauty

Dogstival takes place in the picturesque Broadlands Park in Romsey, Hampshire, which is surrounded by lush green fields and rolling hills. The natural beauty of the area provides a perfect backdrop for the event and allows visitors to take in the scenery and enjoy the great outdoors while celebrating their love for dogs.

Broadlands park is also around 45 minutes from the New Forest National Park, providing the perfect opportunity to holiday in one of the most picturesque national parks in the country.

7. Support for animal welfare

Dogstival is also an opportunity to support animal welfare organisations. Many rescue organisations will be present at the festival, and proceeds from the event will be used to support animal welfare efforts.

One charity in particular they are supporting in 2023 is Pets As Therapy (PAT) a charity that aims to enhance the health and well-being of people in need through the provision of therapeutic visits from PAT dogs. The charity was founded in 1983 and since then it has been providing comfort and companionship to people in hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues.

By supporting PAT, Dogstival is also promoting the benefits of the human-animal bond and the positive impact that companion animals can have on people’s lives. This helps raise awareness about the benefits of pet therapy and encourages more people to get involved in volunteering as PAT handlers and also to support the charity in any way they can.

8. Community spirit

Finally, what we love the most about Dogstival is the community spirit. Unlike many other dog festivals, Dogstival is a great opportunity for dog lovers to come together and form a community. The festival provides a platform for like-minded individuals to connect, share their love for dogs and exchange tips, advice, and experiences. It is a place where people can make new friends, both human and canine, and bond over their shared passion for dogs. The community spirit at Dogstival creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere that makes the event a truly special and memorable experience for all attendees.
