We know that nobody can make a Sunday roast quite like your Nan but doing one yourself requires a lot of effort and patience (especially for a Sunday). Sometimes it’s just easier to pick up the dog lead and venture out for Sunday lunch with your dog.

Whether you’re after perfectly roasted parsnips, tender meat or a big ole Yorkshire pudding – we’ve sniffed out five of our favourite dog friendly places to pick up a the pawfect Sunday lunch.


1. The Mermaid Cafe Bar & Restaurant

Swansea 

This award-winning restaurant and bar are situated next to Mumbles Bay, making it the perfect place to visit before or after a beautiful Sunday walkies. With breath-taking sea views, biscuits and water for the pooch and a scrummy carvery on offer, this place is spot on. Furthermore, dogs have a dedicated side to the restaurant meaning you won’t be disturbing those who don’t want to dine with doggies. Be sure to book your table in advance though, this place packs up quickly.

2. The White Eagle

Anglesey

A delicious Sunday lunch with a view. This dog friendly pub is also situated next to a picturesque coastal path and the very beautiful Rhoscolyn beach. Dogs are welcome inside into an area called ‘the snug’ and outside on the terrace. The staff are mega dog lovers here and have water bowls and dog treats at the ready. The Sunday lunch is incredible with meats from award-winning local family butchers. Also, there’s plenty of parking about too!

3. The Anchor Inn

Monmouthshire

Nestled on the grounds of the historic and picturesque, dog friendly attraction Tintern Abbey, and just a short drive away from Old Station Tintern. This place offers views of the ancient monument, as well as wrap-around views of the adjacent landscape. They love to welcome our furry pals and ramblers alike with a cozy space to unwind with a tasty roast and refreshing beverage. Seating outside too if you want to bask in the views.

4. The Nags Head Inn

Powys

This Grade II listed former coaching in, is well known for it’s tasty Sunday lunches. What makes this place even better? Knowing how much love they have for our furry friends! Dogs are always welcome in the bar area where you’ll find several snugs to cosy up, and the full restaurant menu. For your slap up Sunday dinner, you can find proper crisp roasties, fluffy Yorkies and local meats. The Neaudd Farm pork is one to try, complete with with crackling and the Inn’s ‘proper’ tasty gravy.

5. The Old Chemist Inn

Pembrokeshire

Situated on Saundersfoot beach – the locals love this cosy, dog friendly pub. You really are getting a bargain at just £12 for a two-course meal. Their Sunday lunch is delicious and the portions are mega – leaving you as full as an egg. We definitely recommend sitting outside and taking in beautiful sea views or take a walk with the beautiful beach on the doorstep. The perfect way to spend a Sunday with your pooch.
