Meet The Human Behind Handmade By Hayley B

There’s nothing we love more than supporting small businesses, especially when they’re dog-related.

Handmade by Hayley B creates a range of fantastic accessories for you and your pooch! Including pretty sailor bows and bow ties, treat bags, lightweight dog walking bags, funky bumbags and more. All styled in tail-wagging patterns with catchy phrases and slogans.

We caught up with Hayley to ask her all about her business and all that inspires her.

Hiya Hayley, lovely to catch up with you! We adore what you’ve created at Handmade By Hayley B. Tell us, what inspired you to start this business?

I regularly made accessories for my own dog Bracken & my Auntie’s tribe of 3 Springer Spaniels. They came out really nice, so it was suggested that I should start a small business and Handmade by Hayley B was created!

As there is just me (and my beautiful model Bracken) I bring a human touch to the business, meaning I can create bespoke items that suit your specific need or dream!

That’s amazing, I bet your dogs always looked furbulous. Do you work outside of Handmade by Hayley B?

I do! I am a trained HGV Transport Manager. But the best thing about working in Handmade by Hayley B is being to unleash my inner creativity!

I love that! What are some things people probably don’t know about you?

I have type 1 diabetes & ceoliac disease. I’ve been sewing for around 20 years and I taught myself how to knit around 4 years ago!

Woah, you must be Superwoman Hayley! Do You Have Dogs?

Yes – Bracken the 4 year old Springer Spaniel Mix (We call her a Sprollet (Springer x Collie x Whippet). Bracken is the sweetest, gentlest, soppiest dog. She loves nothing more than to be with you & can often be found chilling in the “crafting room” whilst I’m working. She will do anything for a tennis ball & is a new competitor in flyball with our local team Brighton Flyball.

Bracken sounds absolutely adorable. Do you have any favourite dog friendly places or walks you like to enjoy together?

We love walking through our local areas in East Sussex, we are very lucky to live right by South Downs National Park area and are often found walking in this area – a favourite place to meet up with our Flyball pack is Stanmer Park in Brighton, especially as it has a dog friendly café in the village!

That sounds like a beautiful place to explore with Bracken. If you could visit any destination in the world, where would you go right now?

I love Austin, Texas, USA. My God Children currently live just outside of Austin & I can’t wait to be allowed to travel again to get a trip to see them (and meet their pup Stella!)

Yeeehaa! So what’s next for Handmade By Hayley B? Any exciting plans?

Next for Handmade by Hayley B is to grow our presence at dog events. I was able to attend a few local shows in Sussex but I plan to get out and about more often. One of the best things about having a stand at these style events is being able to meet all the wonderful doggies (and owners of course)! I also have a whole new range coming to the collection and collaborations with small businesses such as LoKo Doggy Delights & JC Pets.

Sounds absolutely tail-wagging! Where can people find your products/services?
