Our Guide to Dog Friendly Swansea

How to Spend a Dog Friendly Weekend in Swansea

With miles of breathtaking sandy beaches, formidable castles, interesting museums and galleries, Make memories with the pooch visiting this vibrant waterfront city. Here’s our guide on how to enjoy dog friendly Swansea with your pooch.

Breakfast

The most important meal of the day, breakfast! Luckily Swansea is home to some of the best breakfast spots, complete with breathtaking views.

With views over the dock, our favourite breakfast spot has to be Diablos SA1. Big breakfasts are the theme here, with your traditional full English (or Welsh), Vegan breakfast, pancake stacks and ciabattas.

Another tasty spot for mouth-watering big breakfasts is The Front Room Cafe. This place again has big breakfasts with options for the veggies.

Dogs are always welcomed in the Coast Cafe where dogs are allowed inside, downstairs.  The staff are lovely and have some biscuits on hand to welcome and spoil our poochies. Next door is the lovely Coffee Fresco, which is the pawfect place to watch the world go by.

On the other side of Swansea Bay is the The Secret Bar & Kitchen. This place has a lovely, chilled out vibe and the views are spectacular. It is dog friendly outside only, but they have a heated shelter available for us and our poochies.

Exploring Swansea

With a plethora of breathtaking coast-line, you’re never far away from the sea in Swansea. This means there’s plenty of walking routes to explore and scenic views to enjoy. Our favourite beaches include Mumbles, Oxwich Bay, Three Cliffs Bay and Crawley Beach.

Things to Do

Looking to sniff out some dog friendly attractions in Swansea? We love Oystermouth Castle. The staff here are super friendly and will fuss your dogs like the little prince or princess they are. If your pooch is lucky, they may even get a cheeky little dog treat. Take a trip to the top of the tower, the views of Swansea Bay are spectacular.

The Gower Heritage Centre is a great rural life museum based around a working 12th-century water-mill. Dogs are allowed throughout most of the museum, except inside the tearoom and animal park.

Talking of animals, if you’re looking to visit a local farm, Clyne Farm Centre recently won a Swansea tourism award for being dog friendly. They actively work hard to ensure that both dogs and their owners are welcome throughout the whole site. Ted the Clyne Farm dog loves meeting new friends!

Dog Friendly Shopping

A new addition to Swansea’s dog friendly repertoire is the Quadrant Shopping Centre. It is the first dog friendly indoor shopping centre in Wales, making it an excellent destination for a shopping spree with your furry companion. With over 18 dog friendly shops, you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.

Lunch

Looking for food with a view? We love Thai restaurant, Bay View Bar & Thai Dining. This lovely place boasts fantastic views on the seafront of Swansea Bay and the lighthouse. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a scenic walk on Swansea Bay.

In the city centre, Zinco Lounge! We love these classic lounges as they’re pawfect for a bite to eat or a cheeky cocktail. Your pooch will get treated to a complimentary bowl of water and a little Bonio biscuit. You can even order a little sausage for the dog with your meals too.

Where can I stay with my pooch?

Looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend? The award-winning attraction Clyne Farm Centre is also home to a range of dog friendly, self-catering cottages (£5 per pooch). You’ll even get a welcome pack for the dog!

Looking for something more central? Travel Lodge in Swansea Central is always low-cost and easily accessible (£20 per pooch).

If you’re looking for something different, how about staying in the home of famed Welsh poet and writer Dylan Thomas. Dylan Thomas’ house has been restored to the original condition and offers a very quirky experience. If you book your stay for 14th August 2020 you will enter 5 Cwmdonkin Drive on 14th August 1915. A newspaper of the day will await you but no phone, no television and no radio!

There are a couple more options available found on our website!

  1. By the time we found out about your Cinema and Co event it was sold out. Please say you will be having another one and let us know when. Also, coming from London, there are often doggie fancy dress walks/pub crawls often in aid of charity. Swansea would be great for such an event.
